Outfit of the day: Underwear as outerwear?!

It's depressingly sad, but uni work has completely taken over my life as of late and I have struggled to even find time to shop - It's that bad, I know! However, last weekend I went to Mint club at Leeds, a night I had had planned for a while, and I used it as an excuse for myself to go on a little spending splurge. I took to ASOS to place an order or two and mooched around town until I found exactly what I was looking for.
The look I wanted to go for was something quite careless and edgy; so I brought out the black, bigged up the hair and piled on lots of jewellery. And this was the result..

Dress- Oh My Love, £22.50 (ASOS sale)
Shoes- Market stall, £25
Rings- H&M
Bracelet- Pandora
Body Chain- eBay

I would like to appologise for the awful picture quality. The photo's were taken on my phone! Also my shoes are quite scuffed, as I re-dressed in this outfit especially to take photos for this post.

I adore this balck cami from Oh My Love (if you have not checked out any of their stuff, then I suggest you do!); the lace trim is so feminine and it looks like a nighty! I love that though, it has an effortless feel about it and paired with my big chunky boots and some rock-chick rings, I feel the outfit has some edge. I added some dainty bracelets and body chain to complete the look.

Due to the dress being so feminine, I felt I should styale my hair and make up quite hard, so that this contrasted. I've become quite a fan of black lips- I just do them with eyeliner!!

As these photo's were took after the event, I though I would include one from the actual night that I wore this outfit!

I'm going to be taking the next few weeka off from blogging to concerntrate on my final year university work.. but I will be back soon! <3

Denim Wars

Denim, which was once associated with the working class, is now big business in the world of high fashion. This spring/summer saw the likes of Balmain and DKNY pay tribute to the trend. Expect dungarees, double denim, patchwork, prints, rips, frays; there's a certain versatility about denim this season. Everyone can wear it, and wear it in their own way.

I have become a particular fan of the rugged, ripped styles, in which appeared Nicole Miller's show. Is it just me, or do ripped jeans always come back in fashion every three years?! I find there's something effortlessly cool about the ripped knees: your beloved, fail-safe, perfect-fit pair of jeans with so much sentimental value you don't dare part with them. They tell a story. Or so we want people to believe. When really we can just pop into a shop and pick up a freshly ripped pair for ourselves! Here’s what I'm loving from the shops...

All torn up grey skinny denim jeans, Ohmylove.com, £32.

Ripped tapered jeans, Twin-Set, £135.

As a savvy student, I decided that rather than buy a pair of ripped up jeans, I might as well do the hard work myself! So, I plan to cut up an old pair this week. If all goes to plan, I will post images up on here; if not, I will be extremely upset that I just ruined a good pair of beloved jeans!
How will you be wearing denim this summer? And what do you think of DIY’ing your own pair of jeans?

Outfit of the day: old meets vintage

So firstly, hello and welcome to my new Blog site!! :) I have transferred over from Wordpress, and will now pick up from here.
I took an unexpected trip to the Manchester Science Museum last week. Basically, I planned to get some outdoor street-scene photographs, but Manchester being Manchester, it rained. A lot. Typical. So I decided to take shelter at the Science Museum: it was nearby, dry and free! Surprisingly, it was an appropriate scene for the photos; the juxtaposition of the industrial machinery against my vibrant jacket and spiky shorts contrasted well visually.

Jacket: clothes swap event
Jumper: Topshop
Shorts: Topshop + customised
Shoes: Topshop
Ring: Pandora

It was love at first sight the moment I cast eyes on this vintage baseball jacket at a clothes swap event. It's hard not to notice it; the bright purple and yellow clash; it stands out, it grabs attention and that's why I fell for it. However, I must admit, I have found it hard to style as the colours are so contrasting. It is a 'stand-out' piece and I often wear it with more neutral tones so that attention is not detracted from it. Here, I wore it with my grey, sports-chic jumper, which I think paired perfectly, as the jacket is also sports-influenced. My little healed trainers matched the theme too.
To add further detail I put on my denim, spiky customised shorts. I studded them a couple of summers ago and they're always perfect for giving an outfit that rock chick edge.

I'm excited to be reading and following new blogs now that I am signed up to Blogger. I hope you all enjoyed my first post on here, I'm happy to here what you think
