Outfit of the Day

Hey all, I ventured home from uni this week for the Easter break, and as always, I struggled to pack my entire life essentials into the limited space of my suitcase! So as you can image, the collection of clothes I have manged to bring back is pretty limited. Routing through my old wardrobe, besides the many fashion horrors, I actually came across a few gems, through them together with a of pair of DIY'd ripped jeans, and hey presto- found them a new lease of life!

Sheer shirt- H&M (old)
Checked shirt- Hollister (old)
Jeans- Cheap Monday
Shoes- Nike (VERY old!)

Nike Airs have come back! I literally think I have had this pair since I was 13 years old- pretty glad I didn't chuck 'em. In a previous post about denim I said how I was going to have a go at ripping a pair myself, and this is the result; I wrapped around a old checked shirt for further 90's vibes and the sheer shirt keeps with the kind of sporty theme.
The weathers been lovely in the lakes, so hopefully I can get more sunny shots soon.

H&M spring 2014 campaign: Miranda Kerr

Fronting H&M's spring campaign this year is the beautiful Miranda Kerr. The high street retailer is never short of augmenting  its archive with star studded names, and its collaboration with Kerr follows progression, as she has taken over the reigns from Brazilian super model, Gisele. Celebrity collaborations with fashion icons have become H&M's trademark, enticing and appealing to its aspirational consumers: offering fashion worn by super stars, but at a price point available to everybody.

The ad sees Miranda being soaked by sprinklers as she steps outside to meet her friend in a waiting taxi. This leads to some pretty swift outfit changes, as she struggles to make her mind up what to wear. A familiar situation, which I keep finding myself in! Top of my wish list is the pretty, pink, pleated skirt, the off the shoulder blouse and lace up mega heels. Whilst her friend waits impatiently in the taxi, Miranda lounges about snapping up flirty selfies.. And all this to the disco sounds of Blondie! - What's not to love!?

H&M first created excitement for the campaign through social media, teasing fans by posting clues as to who the next celebrity ambassador for the brand could be. Fans were left guessing, but H&M soon ended the speculation by posting a a video of Kerr announcing she was the chosen one! With a buzz created for the campaign through Instagram and the selfie shots Kerr was taking in the advert, reminiscent of the social media hype, I feel that the advert could have included a hashtag feature to encourage customers to take selfies in items from the new collection. This would tie the overall campaign together, create a further buzz through viral social media platforms and of course, give customers the chance to reenact the scene emulating super model Kerr.

Using the Australian beauty in their spring campaign was a tactical move by H&M in preparation for the opening of its first Australian store in Melbourne this week.

Let me know what you think of the campaign and H&M's marketing activity in general.

Spangled

Recently, whilst having a little web browse, I came across a brand that I can only describe as wild! Spangled hand-make limited edition designs, as they believe in individuality and original style. Influenced by festival fashion and all things playful, Spangled have an aim to make sure that we don’t all look the same. Basically, how the brand works is, each item on their website is limited edition: they make items to order. You need to wait 1-2 weeks for production and delivery; however, that way you know you are getting something unique thats been handmade with love and care, so it is deffo worth it! The best part about it is, if you see something on their website, but it disappears, you can email them and they will make it for you. How I pray to God that would be the case with every fashion retailer!
I cannot put into words how much I have fallen for their sunglasses, they are just so damb right cool! They offer some pretty funky spandex clothing too. If you are looking to make a statement this summer, or want to just stand out from the crowd, I would definitely recommend.

I am actually SO obsessed with their sunglasses, I can't make up my mind which pair I'm going to buy first! See more of their stock at www.spangled.co.uk. Would love to know what you think!

My spring favorites!

Hello beauties, I am back to blogging! I took some time out to concentrate on my final year work. I am still up to my eyes, but working my booty off to get a good grade!
Anyway, enough about me.. It is spring! Finally, the winter blues are over and the dreams of blue skies have finally come true (how long these blue skies will last with the temperamental English weather is another matter). In the fashion sphere an array of different trends have emerged, from sportswear to artisan, to metallic to traveller. I thought I would do a roundup of some of my fave items from the runways, with the high street equivalents.

Step into spring with a peach coat: oozing femininity, it is the ultimate cover up. Featured on the Jil Saunders, Burberry and Miu Miu catwalks they are certainly hot this season. I have been crushing on them for a while, and found this high street beaut from Zara.
Jil Saunders: spring/summer 2014
Zara: £89.99

Stay uber cool in a leather bralet with spaghetti straps! Alexander Wang displayed them this season and Missguided sell them at the fraction of the price. Can easily be transferred from day to night – absolute must-have piece!
Alexander Wage: spring/summer 2014
Missguided: £14.99

I cannot express to you how much I am in love with this Valentino kimono, which graced the spring/summer catwalks. Strong traveller vibes echoed, with the tassel's swinging and the bright turquoise and fuchsia beading contrasting against the black fabric. Stunning. Boohoo offer one similar; it would be a beautiful addition to anybody’s holiday wardrobe.

Valentino: spring/summer 2014
Boohoo: £20

Burberry showcased pastel shades of every colour this season, and I am head over heels for their lace skirts, which will take you through the sunny months in style. If you haven’t noticed, bubble gum shades are big this year and clashing pastel blues, pinks and greens together is a fashion recipe ever so sweet. Topshop do a lovely light blue copy.

Burberry: spring/summer 2014
Topshop: £38

Okay, so I'm a little bit in love with pastel colours right now!  I will certainly be stocking up on some pieces as soon as my next student loan comes through (EXCITED!) Let me know what trends you will be rocking this spring, I would love to hear :)
